As an addition to such a literature that supports and thereby provides scholarly links to develop comparative studies, this book is another feather.
It has two distinct features: first, it is handy and updated textbook on the subject, and second, it provides a good research perspective on the basics, even for an advanced reader.
The book is also a major contributor to existing resources on the intellectual history of India.
