About the Author
The late James Stewart received his M.S. from Stanford University and his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He did research at the University of London and was influenced by the famous mathematician George Polya at Stanford University. Stewart was most recently Professor of Mathematics at McMaster University, and his research field was harmonic analysis. Stewart was the author of a best-selling calculus textbook series published by Cengage Learning, including CALCULUS, CALCULUS: EARLY TRANSCENDENTALS, and CALCULUS: CONCEPTS AND CONTEXTS, as well as a series of precalculus texts.

$80 for only odd number problem solutions... great.

This solutions manual was definitely helpful with certain problems, but I'm VERY disappointed that only the odd numbers are given. I figured since I'm buying a whole other thing apart from the actual text book that I would get ALL the solutions. This leads me to believe that the only purpose for this solutions manual is to charge students for a whole other book. So if your teacher requires this, or you're deciding on wether or not to get this, just know what you are in for, you still get only the odd numbers for an $80 solutions manual.

When you buy a solutions manual you, you would think that all the problems are there. This solutiona manual only includes the odd problems and without explanations. They just solve the problem. The one this that irked me is that instead of writing and solving the problems vertically , they wrote it horizontally so its hard to clearly see what they did.

Although the book does contain all the odd numbered problems and detailed explanations for each problem, it does not contain even numbered problems, usually this is not a problem since the homework problem sets contain a odd and even numbered problem that contain the same concept, but sometimes it doesn't, usually in the higher numbers of the HW problems.
